Deborah Kraft

Deborah Kraft (b. 1988, Davenport, IA) is a painter, sculptor, and mixed media artist who lives and works in Chicago, IL. Her abstract works are richly layered treasure troves; her not-quite narrative pieces are at once dark, mysterious, and beautiful. The main subject of Kraft's work is irreligious shrine-making. Kraft's work explores magic, obsession and power. She builds her pieces using metalworking, gemstone carving, woodworking, paper collage, and oil painting, often incorporating found & non-traditional materials.
